UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a global ministry of the United Methodist Church that focuses on disaster
response and recovery, as well as sustainable development. In the summer of 2022 and again in the Spring of 2023, our
congregation worked to supply UMCOR with cleaning kits for disaster recovery due to the massive flooding in Eastern Kentucky.
These kits are an essential item for those who have experienced flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural disasters.
These kits provide the necessary tools for cleaning up after a disaster, allowing individuals to begin the process of
rebuilding and recovery.
Each kits kits has specific requirements and all kits have the same items. For examples, the items are packaged in a five gallon
plastic bucket with lid and included things like: plastic gloves, laundry and dish detergent, scrub brush and pads, trash bags, masks,
household cleaner and clothes line and pins.
These buckets are then delivered to an UMCOR drop off site where they can be taken to disaster sites.
